If you want to hit the beach for a camping adventure, make sure you prepare accordingly. Agreed, it will offer many other activities for you to indulge in; but things can go sideways if you do not have the necessary tools and gear. Since conditions along the coast can be unpredictable, here is what you should pack for a safe and memorable beach camping adventure.
Life Jackets
For your safety and of others, it is necessary for you to wear a life jacket while boating. Even if you are not going out to the sea, there are a lot of water activities that will catch you by surprise. Since it is better to be safe than sorry, taking along a few life jackets will ensure you won’t get in trouble. You will save money which otherwise would have been required for rentals.
Tarp for your Tent
You will find plenty of sturdy tents for sale that can make beach camping fun. But do not stop just there. Apart from a tent, make sure you take tarps to protect yourself from the rain, especially if you have no way to check the weather. The last thing you would want to experience is a wet tent! Tarps can keep your belongings and sleeping space dry.
Insect Repellant
It goes without saying mosquitoes thrive in areas where there is water. If you do not want to be bugged (pun intended) by mosquitoes, then don’t forget to take your insect repellant with you.
Sun Protection
Under no circumstance should you wing it under the sun if you are going to camp at the beach. You cannot rely on the clouds or a base tan to protect you from the harmful UV rays.
Even if you are not the type to wear a hat or apply a thick layer of sunscreen, remember that camping at a beach is a completely different story than hanging around the beach for an hour or so. You will spend a considerable amount of time out in the sun, thus increasing your chances of getting a sunburn. If and when this does happen, you will be miserable for the remainder of your trip.
No matter how careful you may be, you can get sunburnt. In this case, pack some aloe just to be on the safe side.
Solar or Battery-powered Radio
A day at the beach would simply not be complete without some tunes. With music, you can dance the night away or lounge in the sun. If other beachgoers are ruining your camping experience, a solar or battery-powered radio can help drown away their noise.
Nylon Rope
When the time comes to dry your towels and clothes, you will need a nylon rope to make a clothesline.
Water-proof Blanket
At the beach, not just any blanket will do. You will need a water-proof blanket, preferably a compact one. With the right water-proof blanket, you will be comfortable be it rain or hailstorm.
Extra Swimsuits
Depending on how long you plan on camping at the beach, it would be a good idea to take extra swimsuits along with you. It is impossible for you to resist giving into diving into the water, so why not keep up with this urge of yours? Remember, you won’t have a dryer to throw your clothes into, so take extras so you won’t have to be out of the water for too long.
These essentials are a must for a beach camping adventure, and will, in fact, make it a trip to remember for years to come.
