The new Nokia Lumia 920 is undoubtedly bringing revolution to its platform. The sales for Nokia being on the decline with Microsoft hanging around for the windows Phone to have a big market, the Nokia Lumia 920 have much on its shoulders. The device is assumed to be the “new iPhone” giving them the status which Apple got with the 2007 original release of the iPhone.
For the time being the battle is focused between Apple and Samsung, Apple launches the iPhone 5 and Samsung releases the Galaxy S3. With the innovative design, easy to deal with user interface, AT&T availability with large display and superb camera, Nokia Lumia 920 wants to take the place of the iPhone.
Nokia Lumia 920 has a 4.5 inch display and is 332 ppi together with 1280*768 resolution, where the iPhone has a 4 inch display with 326 ppi together with 1136*640 resolution. Thus in this aspect Lumia comprehensively beats the iPhone.
The iPhone 5 has 8 megapixel rear camera and 1.2 megapixel front camera with LED flash, Autofocus, face detection, Face Time. With 8.7 megapixel rear camera, Nokia Lumia 920 has a 1.3 megapixel front camera with dual LED flash, Autofocus and the Carl Zeiss optics giving Pure View, thus the rear camera blowing the iPhone 5 in low light snaps.
In the storage department, the iPhone 5 with 16GB, 32 GB and also 64 GB options clearly beats Nokia Lumia 920 with only 32GB.
Both these handsets support 2G, 3G with LTE. With Nokia Lumia 920 facilities like wireless charging with NFC support, micro USB cable for charging are available, while iPhone 5 has only the Lightning cable supporting for charging.
Coming to the Operating Systems, while Nokia Lumia 920 comes with the Windows Phone8, iPhone 5 users iOS 6. The App Store of iPhone makes it a clear winner. In spite of the uniqueness of the OS of Lumia 920 it is not enough for beating the 700,000 plus apps of iPhone 5.
Nokia Lumia 920 comes in red, white, black, gray and yellow while iPhone 5 comes only in black and white. But because of the chunky proportions of Nokia Lumia 920 compared to the slim iPhone5, Nokia is not a clear winner in this aspect. Both the devices are smartly designed and each gets equal credit.
Cost of Nokia Lumia 920 is $99.99 on a two year contract. The iPhone 5 16 GB version comes for $199.99, the 32 GB version comes for #299 and the 64 GB version comes for $399. Here also Nokia Lumia 920 tops with the lower base price.
With the five wins in comparison to the two wins, Nokia Lumia 920 defeats iPhone 5. But while Nokia Lumia 920 comes only on the AT&T, iPhone 5 is almost on all US carriers, T-Mobile being the sole exception. In case of reputation in smartphone world, iPhone 5 is much ahead. Though Nokia Lumia 920 may not destroy the iPhone market, but it is a versatile Windows Phone and should do well for Nokia. It should be remembered that when the first iPhone was released it also came with only AT&T with a tiny App Store and now it is almost ruling the world.
